CHEPSTOW business is leading the way in the car-washing industry without using a drop of water.
Aquanought, an eco-friendly car-washing service, which uses no water while washing cars, was set up on St Mary Street in Chepstow by former chef Leon Hamlett.
The company is going from strength to strength, bringing a revolutionary way of car cleaning to customers' front doors.
The procedure used by Aquanought is a simple spray-wipe-clean operation, with a special formula, which means cars can be cleaned without smearing or streaking, leaving a slippery polished finish.
The technology was created in America, where in certain states vehicles must be cleaned in special dry-clean bays because of water shortages. Leon said: "Because of the increasing concerns in this country regarding water shortages, we thought it was really important that we could offer a car-cleaning service that did not use water.
"As well as being waterless, the product is non-toxic and bio-degradable and we use recycled cloths, and the scooters we use to get about produce ultra-low emissions."

I’d always loved cars and recognised that the quickest way to build a successful business was to work with something I enjoyed. So, I started a water based mobile car wash and grew my new operation very quickly. However, I never thought that carrying such a massive amount of water on a small van was so financially limiting.
Having always owned scooters I began to research a new kind of car wash that would be fun and unique with a concept that was second to none. Aquanought was born through necessity and a genuine desire to be the eco friendly alternative to regular car washes.
Armed with my idea and determination, I set out alone to change the way car washes would develop in the UK. Business boomed for Aquanought almost straight away, with more bookings than I could handle.
However, the changeable climate caused havoc with the original products I used, smearing in the wet weather and unusable in the hot weather.
Working days were limited to overcast and dull days. It was good, but not good enough.
After realising the great potential of the Aquanought system, I searched for a product that could wash and polish cars to my high standards in all weather conditions, the key to success in my mind.
After eventually creating our “Dream” product range, I tested them in every weather situation mother earth could throw at us. They worked, rain or shine every time.
The last piece of the Aquanought jigsaw was then in place and Aquanought began to expand throughout the UK, safe in the knowledge that it had the most advanced low cost operation available.
As time has passed, new innovations have emerged to create the eco friendly operation in its entirety. By sourcing our equipment from local suppliers we have managed to provide a low cost business for our franchisees and have given them their dream of self employment.
Coming from a service background I knew that customers wanted excellent value for money and an operation designed to work around their busy lifestyles.
Recently, Auto Express claimed Aquanought and its products were “Professional Quality” and “Leaders In This Field” continuing by saying “We Were Impressed.”
Aquanought is now a strong force in the marketplace with multiple car park operations and various mobile systems leading in the way in environmentally friendly car washes.
By building the business organically we are creating a new generation of eco entrepreneurs, who enjoy offering our customers a unique environmentally friendly car wash service.
After structured growth, we are now able to offer yet more market leading business options with our unique Aquanought car wash system. Every new operator will have the option to open a car park car wash in a prime site within the UK or to have a mobile car wash system, both courtesy of Aquanoughts innovative development department.
As a business, we are now owned by the Kingshott Group and Car Park Valeting who liked the Aquanought idea so much that they bought the company.
With the backing of an ambitious company, Aquanought intends to be the Global Leader in eco friendly car wash services in the very near future.
